A message from the Board President
At Connections, we believe that Every Person Needs a Home – and more.
Today Desiree is on the verge of receiving her nursing degree instead of finding herself and her daughter doubled up in a dangerous stranger’s house. This is true because Desiree and Connections’ Family Housing program found one another.
Today the Jackson family has been able to step back from the threat of losing their home to foreclosure because the Jacksons and the Connections’ Prevention program found one another.
Today Joe is receiving the mental health services he has needed for years. Because Joe and the Connections’ Entry Point program found one another, he did not have to deal with the complexities of a system that he was unable to navigate on his own.
Today Dennis is in a long term supported housing apartment instead of sleeping on the street because Dennis and Connections’ Hilda’s Place shelter program found one another.
Today the brand new Connections’ Employment program is actively working on linking some of our clients with employers who can offer stable work opportunities to help break the cycle that threatens their housing.
Over the past twenty-five years Connections has touched many lives. Today, however, the reality and the moral challenge for our community is that too many of our neighbors are still in the kinds of situations that Dennis, Joe, Desiree and the Jacksons were once in.
We invite you and we need you to join us as we continue to expand our commitment to care creatively for our neighbors at risk. In 31 communities in northern Cook County, it continues to be our mission to prevent and eradicate homelessness for as many individuals and families as possible.
Nothing less will do. Every Person Needs a Home.
Sincerely,
Jessie Macdonald
