Connections for the Homeless raised a record $53,000 at its annual fundraising gala, The Spring Benefit—A New View, on Friday, April 23, 2004. Emceed by Evanston resident Derrick Blakley, news anchor and reporter for CBS 2 CHICAGO, the event drew more than 240 friends of Connections to the Windows Ballroom in the DoubleTree Hotel in Skokie.

Guests danced to the music of Jack Kramer and His Orchestra, bid on dozens of silent auction items, and celebrated significant supporters of Connections. The Argus Press of Niles was honored as Connections’ Corporate Partner of the Year for its generous printing services and assistance in building new and lasting relationships. The Village Treasure House, a generous supporter of Connections for the Homeless for many years, has provided grants from their re-sale shop in Glenview and makes household merchandise available for Connections’ Family Housing Services program. The Village Treasure House was honored as the agency’s Community Partner of the Year.

Benefit co-chairs, Jessie Macdonald and Joe Flint,
with emcee Derrick Blakley.
