Housing Program
Different people have different housing needs. Not all of our clients are ready to live independently, while others just need support as they find a home they can afford.
The focus of our Housing Programs is to provide people who have lost their homes with stable housing that is appropriate for their needs as rapidly as possible so that they have a home base from which to work as they achieve long-term stability.
Transitional Housing We provide free or low-cost housing to those who need it, along with comprehensive supportive services to address the underlying causes of homelessness.
- Hilda's Place is our transitional shelter for single men and women. Clients typically remain at Hilda's Place for 3 months before moving into their own housing.
- Our Family Housing Program provides transitional apartment housing for families with children. We typically work with a family for two years while the head of household completes school and gets a job.
Permanent Supportive Housing We provide permanent housing and ongoing case management to clients struggling with serious physical disabilities or mental illnesses, bringing stability and support to these individuals who may have been chronically homeless in the past.
Housing Placement We continuously scour the North Shore for units of affordable housing and work with landlords to acquire these units for our clients.
